South Africans have once again woken up on Saturday morning to the reality that we are not safe in our homes and communities as “mass shootings” or “multiple murders” continue to stalk our communities, with illegal guns playing a role in this tragic and violent phenomenon. The most recent incident has resulted in six people being murdered in Mpumalanga.
In this regard, the Minister of Police, Senzo Mchunu, has disclosed in reply to a RISE Mzansi written parliamentary question, that between 2019/20 and 2023/24 there have been 9,073 mass shooting or multiple murder incidents.
