Title: Parliamentary Research Officer

Location: Parliament, Cape Town

Type of Employment: Five-year fixed-term contract

Salary: Market-related based on qualifications and experience

About the Role:

RISE Mzansi is looking for a dedicated and analytical Parliamentary Researcher Officer

to support the RISE Mzansi Parliamentary Caucus. The role ideal for individuals with a

strong background in research-based fields and an active interest in politics and

legislation.

Objective:

To produce research, analysis and advice of the highest standard to guide the

positions and decisions of the RISE Mzansi Parliamentary Caucus in relation to

legislative issues.

Key Qualifications:

A degree in Law, Politics, Economics, Public Policy, or a related research-based field.

3–5 years of relevant work experience is required.

Relevant research and strategic communications experience will be a significant

advantage.

Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive research and analysis support to the RISE Mzansi

Parliamentary Caucus.

Conduct both qualitative and quantitative research to inform the party

s position on

motions, legislation and government regulations.

Effectively communicate research findings and draft documents for internal and

external use.

Assist in the drafting of questions, motions, Private Member Bill, statements and

other communication, as required by the Parliamentary Caucus.Apply critical thinking and analysis to a wide range of political and socio-economic

issues.

Engage with stakeholders relevant to research and policy matters.

Pro-actively identify and drive issues that add strategic value to RISE Mzansi’

political agenda

Attend committee meetings and take notes on behalf of the Parliamentary Caucus

General Duties:

Support all RISE Mzansi-related duties as required, which may include, but are not

limited to, assisting with organising events, performing general administrative tasks,

and providing assistance to other units of the organisation.

Skills Required:

Strong qualitative and quantitative research abilities.

Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, as well as any of

the other 12 official languages

Proficiency in drafting and presenting research documents.

Ability to think critically and analyse complex information.

Keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Capacity for effective stakeholder engagement.

An understanding of legislative and governance processes.
