RISE Mzansi has decided to postpone the Youth Town Hall scheduled for today, Tuesday, 21 May 2024, at 15:00. The Bannister Hotel, the planned venue, was recently involved in an incident where a young woman alleged her drink was spiked. Although the victim has since issued a public apology to the venue, RISE Mzansi is postponing the event until the investigation concludes. This decision underscores our commitment to women's safety in South Africa.
In alignment with the People’s Contract, RISE Mzansi prioritizes safety, particularly for women, amidst the country's prevalent gender-based violence. We stand in solidarity with the victim. Updates on the new date and venue for the Youth Town Hall, focusing on participatory democracy and youth political engagement, will be communicated soon. The event's catering will be donated to the homeless community in Braamfontein.
